Where do some of the Trakdayz coaches go to ride when they can't get onto a circuit during the winter months in WA? Malaysia of course!
The Sepang International Circuit, 5.543 km long 15 turns 16m wide, with two 900 metre straights, the longest being 927 metres.
It takes 5hr 40 min on average to fly to Kuala Lumpur from Perth, then a 20 minute car ride will get you to your accommodation in Sepang or Nilai. Should you wish to stay in KL then its a 45 minute drive.
The track is amazing and the pit area where you set up for the day is the same area used by the MotoGP riders. Sign on for a track day will be in the massive media room, where you can wander from to find the podium (always good for a holiday snap).
The circuit is so long and flowing that several of our TRAKADDICTZ have attended and simply been lost for several sessions trying to get their head around the amount of corners and the speeds that you can maintain in a lap.
When you are on track you will not gain a full understanding of the undulation and cambering of the corners, so a drive around the marshall's access road is recommended where possible, to fully understand the lay of the land.
SBR trackdays run by Joe Lee are highly recommended as the provider of choice for your “bucket list” ride of this circuit.
SBR run 3 groups from A (Very Fast) B (Fast) to C (Beginners) and have hire bikes for those who are prepared to book quickly, as you will be on track with fellow riders from all around the planet, and some of those Europeans can ride!
Sepang has become the second home for several of our TRAKDAYZ coaches, who now have their own bikes located at the Sepang circuit and ride the circuit as often as monthly or bi monthly depending on SBR booking availability.
Check out the SBR website for details or drop an email to firstname.lastname@example.org and join us for a ride around a truly awesome circuit that you will never forget.
